What to Bring for any Salt River Rafting (SRR) adventure

Even though most of your trip may be sunny and warm, the mountains of Arizona can experience extreme temperature
changes in a very short time.  Plan to keep yourself comfortable in all kinds of weather.

Daily River gear provided                                                                                
  • Farmer John wetsuit on cold days;
    we go rain, snow or shine
  • Neoprene shoes/booties
  • Nylon windbreaker or splash jacket
  • Life jacket, helmet and paddle
Daily River gear to bring                                                                                      
  • Polypropylene, fleece, wool sweater. ANY synthetic top.
  • Nylon or rain pants for cold days
  • Other footwear options include Sandals or old sneakers
  • Swim suit under the wetsuit
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and baseball cap or visor will fit under our helmets
  • Water is available to fill your water bottle at the beginning and end of your trip as well as at lunch.
  • NO COTTON should be worn on the river, once wet it has NO insulation value.

 
Camp out and 2 Day gear to bring
On these trips you will have the luxury of bringing your car to 2nd camp, which is a public campground.
You will be camping in our designated area for SRR.
Things to have on your list:

  • Warm clothes for after sunset
  • Tent, Sleeping Bag w/sheet and pillow, Sleeping pad/cot
  • Flash light, bug spray
  • Adult Beverages
  • Fishing pole, hiking stuff, games
  • Toiletries, we have porto-pottys
  • Whatever you want!

3-5 day gear that is provided

  • Dry bag to pack your gear into
  • Full kitchen with food and water
  • portable toilet and firepan, leave no trace is practiced

3-5 day Camping gear to bring
All of your personal gear will be packed into a dry bag which is about the size of a large backpack.
Here are some things to have on your list:

  1. Warm clothes for after sunset
  2. Tent, Sleeping Bag w/sheet and pillow, Sleeping pad
  3. Flash light, bug spray
  4. Adult Beverages
  5. Fishing pole, hiking stuff, games
  6. Toiletries, we have a portable toilet, that’s right, everything is packed out
  7. Small camping chair
  8. Keep it light and minimal, everything needs to fit on the raft

For everyone
Please bring the SRR acknowledgement of risk form as well as the White Mountain Apache Tribal Release
of Liability Form completed for each person. These forms are included as an attachment or available on our website www.RaftTheSalt.com. Links to the forms are found on our FAQ, Trips, & Map pages.

Please don’t be late, we can not hold up an entire group for a couple of late people. Check the status of your
route from our Map page which has a link to the Arizona Department of Transportation news, delays and closures
page as well as the AZ511 traffic map.
